The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) and the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) are statutory bodies under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India. They administer social security benefits related to health insurance and retirement savings for employees in the organised sector.
Employers meeting specified thresholds are required to register and comply with monthly filings, contributions, and employee data maintenance under both schemes. ESIC is applicable to establishments employing 10 or more employees (with threshold varying by state), and EPFO is mandatory for establishments employing 20 or more employees.
